Greetings From Mongolia

August 1, 2009 @ 5:53 AM | Permalink

Greetings from Mongolia!

It has been about 6 weeks since I have spoken to all of you, but I have finally left China so now I can post everything from the last month and a half.  In China, most blogs are blocked and  even YouTube and the Facebook have been blocked to prevent political awareness and anti-government organization.

If you are reading this it means I am now in Mongolia, but unfortunately my story ends in Beijing.  I was writing furiously in a Beijing café when suddenly my pen went dry on the last page of my journal, just as I concluded my last story in Beijing.  I took this as an omen.

Considering my writing tends to lag behind my actual life by about 3 weeks, and I only have about 3 weeks left in my travels, I have decided to wrap my story up at the end of my time in China.  I spend way too much time typing into my computer as it is, and it would be impossible to continue typing all the way to Moscow.  I am living life at a pace which defies description.

So where did I leave you?  Oh yes, with the story of the Water Bottle Incident.  As you probably know, that story was mostly a figment of my imagination, but those slippery deckhands did steal my water bottle – I am sure of it!  But I left Vietnam on good terms with the Vietnamese, by no means as a persona incognita…

After Halong Bay, I went back to Hanoi and caught a bus into China, lost my ticket, had to buy another one, and… well, I have already written the rest down.

So enjoy reading, and please give me a call or send me an email so we can make plans for when I get back.  I will be in SD/LA for about 2-3 weeks from the 27th of August to around the 14th of September or so.  I will be busy getting ready to move to Spain, but I would love to see as many of you as possible before I take off for another year!  If not this time, then we shall meet next July in Pampalona, Espana and together we will run from the bulls!

Talk to you soon!

Your friend,
